Itinerary

Kimberley Tour DAY 1:
Broome - Windjana

Depart Broome at 07:00 am and head to the Derby Prison for a short visit. We leave the bitumen behind us as we enter the Gibb River Road, almost instantly we can feel the remoteness. A walk up Windjana Gorge this afternoon is sure to impress. Camping overnight Windjana National Park. (L/D)

Kimberley Tour DAY 2:
Windjana - Bel

This morning we're off to Tunnel Creek have your bathers and torches ready. This amazing tunnel cuts through the Napier Range and is rich in history. Afternoon sees us off to Bells Gorge. Camping overnight Bells Gorge. (B/L/D)

Kimberley Tour DAY 3:
Bell - Manning

Leaving Bells Gorge this morning, we travel through the beautiful scenery of the Kimberley's highest mountain range, King Leopold Ranges, on our way to Galvan's Gorge. This gorge will tempt you to don the bathers. For those feeling like a walk, a visit to Manning Gorge this afternoon is recommended. Camping overnight Mt Barnett Station. (B/L/D)

 

Kimberley Tour DAY 4:
Manning - King Edward River

Today we leave the Gibb River Road and travel to Kalumburu Road to Mitchell Plateau, visiting Drysdale River Station. Our camp will be on the banks of the river where we can take a afternoon dip or to explore the area before dinner. Camping overnight King Edward River. (B/L/D)

Mitchell Plateau

We make full use of our 4WD capacity today to take us to the Mitchell Plateau. Livingstonia palms abound in this rugged region. Experience an optional helicopter flight over these falls you can see some of the remotest country in the world. While swimming and overlooking the cascading falls, take a moment out, to appreciate how far away from civilisation you are. Camping overnight King Edward River. (B/L/D)

King Edward River - Home Valley Station

This morning we visit Aboriginal paintings in the area then depart our river camp and Mitchell Plateau and travel back down Kalumburu Road to rejoin the Gibb River Road. Tonight we camp at Home Valley Station. (B/L/D)


Kimberley Tour DAY 7:
Home Valley - Kununurra

Our journey takes us through the majestic Cockburn Ranges, have your cameras ready as we wind our way towards El Questro Station. A walk to stunning Emma Gorge with a rewarding swim in the crystal clear waters is a must. Camping overnight Kununurra. (B/L/D).

Kimberley Tour DAY 8:
Kununurra

Free day today, to enjoy the many attractions of Kununurra. Overnight Kimberley Land Caravan Park. (B)

Kimberley Tour DAY 9:
Kununurra - Bungle Bungles

An early start as we're off to the Bungle Bungles unbelievable beehive formations, and plunging gorges that will leave you breathless. Visit to Echidna Chasm with its 150 metre sheer rock face, along with a walk to Mini Palms for those feeling energetic (time permitting). Camping overnight in the Purnululu National Park. (B/L/D).

Bungle Bungles _ Kununurra

Today take in the wonder of "Purnululu". (The Aboriginal name for the Bungles) starting with an optional helicopter flight over this amazing sight is a must. Then lunch in beehive dome region of the park after a walk to Cathederal Gorge, before the winding journey back to the town of Kununurra. Overnight camping Kununurra (B/L/D).

Kimberley Tour DAY 11:
Kununurra - Katherine

We cross the border to the Northern Territory and travel along the Victoria river (watch out for salt water crocodiles) to our overnight at Katherine. Camping Katherine. (B/L/D)king edward river crossing


Kimberley Tour DAY 12:
Katherine - Darwin

This morning we visit Katherine Gorge (optional 2 hour morning cruise available) we then travel Stuart Hwy into the outback capital Darwin. The last day of the tour may be run in conjunction with another operator. (B/L)
